Whether Weather
My simple three-day weekend in Washington, DC is about to get rather complicated. I was trying to figure out what to pack last night but the weather prediction is complicating matters for me.
Tomorrow (Friday) is the day Mike and I fly out. In Boston and in Washington, DC it’s supposed to besunny and in the upper 50’s or 60’s. OK – sounds like I should pack reasonably light (for winter) with my lighter jacket, a pair of jeans, some t-shirts and perhaps a button-down shirt or two to go over them. I’ll wear sneakers.
Saturday is supposed to be horrifically windy and rainy, but still warm. OK, I’ll just bring an extra pair of jeans in case the first pair gets rain-soaked in the wind-driven rain. Instead of a leather jacket, perhaps a light cotton or wool one will suffice. HMM, I guess those sneakers won’t work, either. I’ll bring boots…and don’t forget the umbrella.
On Sunday, the temperatures are expected to plummet. Now it’s getting complicated. Scratch the light jackets, I should bring my pea-coat. Oh, and I guess I’ll be needing a scarf and gloves now, too. And maybe a heavy shirt or a sweater.
All of this is not going to easily fit in my carry-on bag. And at this rate, I’ll be packing more for my 3 day weekend than I did for 9 days across the Atlantic in Paris.
Oh, and my friend, David, sent me this attachment for a restaurant he apparently enjoys in Chicago. I’m not so sure it’s such a great advertising campaign for the male demographic…but it made me chuckle:

I say quite worrying about packing and just go naked. You’ll be very popular that way.
dress in layers. bring some tight yet lightweight thermals. the kind you can peel off in a bathroom stall when you get warm or get busy…
Glad you liked it (despite). Mostly a coffeehouse — best coffee roasters around! People order their Black Cat espresso blend world-wide. Ok, so I’m a coffee dweeb. Or rather http://www.coffeegeek.com 😉
Just do like me and pack everything! One can never be too prepared, you know! You are quite the little gad-about these days! So cosmopolitan!
Oh for crissakes, just pack for chilly weather. You can take shit off or buy t-shirts easily if you need to and it’s cheaper than buying heavy winter stuff. Or get a bigger bag and do what Matt says.
yes, I like that the best.
i walk by this place on broadway… but i won’t even go in to buy coffee… the name is too presumptuous for me. ugh… all the posers sit on the sidewalk thumbing dostoyevsky or some other horrible writer… i can’t stand this coffee shop… but perhaps i’m just bitter than i’m not smart enough to feel comfortable standing under the logo
