Even Bed Franklin Would Find This Absurd

I know Ben Franklin said “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”, but this is getting ridiculous. I’ve been back from Paris for a full week now yet I still keep waking up at 4:00AM. Every freaking day.

It doesn’t matter what time I go to bed at night. It doesn’t matter what I eat. It doesn’t matter what sleep-inducing cold medication I’ve taken. I’m wide awake at 4:00AM. I suppose if I was as wise as Mr. Franklin says I should be for waking up that hour, I could do something productive (clean the home, wash laundry, even read). But instead I just lay in bed mumbling expletives to myself.

Now, I know that I’ll fall back into my old routine at some point. But my big fear is that we’re fast approaching daylight savings time. That means setting the clock back an hour. I really hope this doesn’t complicate things even further.

On the plus side, for the first time in two weeks I was able to wake up and not require cold/sinus medication. I think I’m finally kicking this thing. YAY ME!

I think you should get up and watch some bad TV. Twenty minutes of bad television in the middle of the night always puts me back to sleep. 🙂

Karl, Karl, Karl. Maybe your Walks-Substantially-More-Than-The-Average-American body is SO advanced that it has jumped the daylight savings gun. 🙂 Ever thinka that? Glad you are starting to feel better. Meantime, try resolving to use that time for your own benefit. Reading is lovely – and one of my first choices – but odds are good it will lull me back to sleep, which makes getting up at the right time even worse. So – I don’t know. But I’m sure you will find a way to occupy yourself… hem hem…. 🙂

OR, or, you could go online and see if I’m here and we can “chat”! I’m often up at that time… not of my own choice but nevertheless. 🙂

Reading always works for me in these circumstances. nothing too stimulating, of course <ahem> but magazines i want to catch up on or a play script–that almost always does the trick.

    Yes reading is good.
Oh, we got a pamphlet in the mail yesterday.
DVD’s that are right up your alley.
Or you could try a warm shower…….
Oh alright I’ll say what everyone is thinking!
Just get yourself off and fall back to sleep!!!

youre like my grandpa, he used to go to sleep at 1030pm and wake up at 400am. maybe at 34, you still have the energy level of a ferret. if youre up at 4am, maybe you could go to the gym and expend some of that extra energy? kidding kidding!
