More About Me Than you Ever Wanted To Know

OK – I got this little project from Karyn (Vexed in the City). FUN STUFF!

Name 4 movies you own that you think none of your friends own:
1. The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (yee haw!)
2. Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (hilarious)
3. The Gay Deceivers (bad 1960’s movie about draft dodgers pretending to be gay…totally un-PC)
4. Tax Zum Klo (gay German flick…not really good, but I doubt anybody else has it!)

Name 4 books you own that you think none of your friends own:
1. Paradoxia, by Lydia Lunch (a fascinating read of debauchery)
2. Screening Party, by Dennis Hensley (a hilarious concept: friends gather to watch campy movies on DVD/video and then the author tapes the bitchy conversations and puts it all to paper)
3. Ptown, by Peter Manso (an interesting story of how Ptown became what it is)
4. Lands End, Michael Cunningham (a beautiful/poetic description of the tip of Cape Cod)

Name 4 cds you own that you think none of your friends own:
1. Hot Chocolate Massage, by Tiny Lights (great unappreciated group from the 80’s/90’s)
2. Mincing Steps, by Downy Mildew (moody group from the 80’s…when “alternative” was known as “college rock”)
3. Southside, by Texas (Scottish group with a gorgeous female lead singer)
4. Christmas with the Brady Bunch (pure camp…almost the entire album is sung off-key)

Name 4 places you’ve been where you think none of your friends have been:
1. Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico (amazing)
2. This little hidden spot on the banks of the Siene on the tip of Ille St-Louis (in Paris). It was down some stairs, under a bridge and around the corner from the tip of the island.
3. The exact spot where John F. Kennedy was assassinated
4. a sex club in San Francisco (it was closed at the time: I wasn’t there to use the sex club…not that there’s anything wrong with that…but there was a fair taking place on their property so I explored the “activity areas” when nobody was looking)

Tag – you’re it! Now it’s your turn!

    Karl, such a diverse man!!
I do own Elvira Mistress of the Dark.
You have to love the girl who put the boob back into tube.

I’m still so blindingly envious of your trip to France. Le paf.

I toured Carlsbad Caverns–in utero, ie. my mother was three to four months pregnant with me at the time. I remember it being very dark in there, damp and somewhat cramped. 🙂

Get this. I totally own “Christmas with the Brady Bunch”. On VINYL. And no, I didn’t thrift store shop for it — original, beaten up by my sister and I. It’s soooo bad!! ;-P

Tho, I did not go with you upstairs — I, too, was at the sex club with you. And Paradoxia belonged to me originally. …and I gave you Tax Zum Klo — you said you liked it. I also gave you the Brady Bunch CD! So, does that count that I “have” or “have had” them???

Oh, and don’t think that I don’t notice you never respond or comment to my comments.

    “…I WILL NOT be ignored!”

    no, wait. wrong movie.

…and, I think I worked at Doug’s whorehouse for a few weeks when he was on vacation. pay was lousy and the beds squeaked.

  12. Comment by Karl on February 9, 2006 11:08 am

I know, Matt! But you didn’t explore the sex club! You stayed downstairs and sat around scared that I was being raped up there at the sex club! You never explored it, though!

As for the gifts…you’re right..many I inherited or received as a gift from you (aside from Screening Party…which I bought for you but kept for myself after the split).

You have been a key figure in my cultural development.

    I was taken to Carlsbad Caverns when I was 4 . . . so there! <snap!> 🙂
