My Dog Hates Condoleeza Rice
It’s the strangest thing. There are two things that noticeably upset my Dusty. The first thing is saxophone music. Whenever a saxophone is played on TV or on CD (as Matt explores his recent jazz craze) Dusty gets all fidgety. She’ll be resting peacefully or playing loudly – oblivious to the world – but the second a saxophone solo comes on she stops what she’s doing, sits up, and tilts her head to the side while facing the speaker and/or television.
The same thing happens whenever Condoleeza Rice appears on TV. Interestly, Dusty is disturbed by both the image AND sounds of Dr. Rice. Just this morning I was eating my oatmeal and fending off the Dusty-beast when the TV began airing an interview with Condoleeza. She immediately stopped trying to attack my oatmeal and looked at the television with her head tilted to the side.
It scares me. I know that the Bush administration has been successful in (dare I say) brainwashing many people. But now they have the ability to manipulate dogs, too! I wonder if there are some sort of high pitch sounds accompanying Dr. Rice’s interviews that only dogs can hear? Maybe it’s telling them to sabotage the Democrats?
People, let me know if you notice strange animal behavior. When your dog is peeing on newspapers, does he/she only soil the articles that denounce Bush? When John Kerry’s commercials appear on TV, does your parakeet talk loudly to drown out the TV? I’m not a conspiracy theorist…but it’s something to think about.

You know, they say animals have a secret sense that can detect danger, i.e. earthquakes and the like. Maybe Dusty can actually sense the distilled essence of evil that wafts from all members of the current administration.

Dogs have a very keen sense of a person’s true nature. Dusty just knows that Condoleeza is evil, that’s all. Never trust a person that your dog doesn’t.
My dog used to cry every time she heard the theme song to The Young and the Restless. I like to think that dogs enjoy music, too, but I’m sure it’s something to do with the frequencies they’re hearing.
i know someone whos dog(s) over the years had all been quiet with people except for african americans. his dogs were never ‘trained’ to bark only at african americans, but yet they ALL did. is this something youre teaching your dog subliminally (ie do you change your actions whenever any bush cronies are on tv?)
maybe youre brainwashing your dog?
and brainwash your dog to bark at the wilson philipps cd willya? *chris
…i don’t know, baby. seems to me just might like sax solos and ms. rice — i mean she stops and turns her head. perhaps she is allowing the sounds to fill her brain because she enjoys them. i should think if she were upset she would run and hide or cry or bark.
