No Fake News is Good News

I’m not intending for this blog to become a political thing…but damn – there’s some weird crap going on lately.

First, I posted about the Democratic National Convention a few days ago. The following day Massachusetts’ Republican Governor proposed exactly what I proposed…for the same reasons. Of course that must mean he reads my blog religiously.

Then, I saw on the news the fiasco we call the Medicare Bill. Apparently, the Bush administration led the legislature to believe the cost of his program would be $400 billion. After the votes took place and it was approved, it’s been announced that it’s closer to $550 billion…and the administration knew that all along. Nothing like a little lie to get your way.

Then I saw on the news that the Bush administration created a false news report (with a reporter and interviews with Bush administration members) and contacted news channels across the country telling them to mix their “report” in with the normal local news broadcast!!!! Essentially, the government has decided they no longer need to be subtle about controlling the media (and you right-wingers thought it was the gay mafia controlling the media). And with such shameful propaganda!

I find this practice so offensive. I wouldn’t mind if they just created TV commercials trying to sell their plan…but to try to sneak it into my household through a fake news report? I wonder how many other news stories have been falsified.

On a lighter note – Matt and I went out to dinner tonight to the Restaurant-Formerly-Known-As-Baja Cantina (the Prince of restaurants, apparently). It looks like it is now called Prairie Star. The food was just okay – but the host looked mightly slurpy in his leather pants. Perhaps I’ll have to go back.

I brought my camera to the restaurant with the intention of photographing my meal, but completely forgot in the excitement for stuffing my face (and seeing the leather pants – he he). Anyway, I had a half-rack of baby back ribs. No photo…but here’s the website: http://www.prairiestargrillandbar.com

I had enchilladas — they were quite good. I also had the biggest glass of soda in the known world and I drank every last bit.
