I’m still sick, and j is not available to lead this week’s meeting, so with my extreme apologies, I’m canceling blog group for this week.

Tonight, blog group’s time slot conflicts with Tech Cocktail Boston, which many of our members like to attend. We recommend that you take advantage of this exciting event. RSVP early because it fills up quickly!

Instead of a meeting, let’s gather at outside the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade (near Charles St. station) to watch the Pops rehearse their 4th of July concert. Bring your picnic blanket, your own meal, and if you like snacks to share.

The latest word is that the concert itself isn’t going to start til around 8:30, but that the earlier the better in terms of getting there.

Look for j when you arrive – Erica has had something come up and won’t be able to be there.

Berkman has an event this afternoon which is ending in a reception in the conference room, so we’re not holding blog group tonight. However, if folks want to show up at Berkman at 7, catch the end of the reception, and then head out to grab dinner & socialize, let’s do that! I’ll be here, and I’ve heard from a couple other folks that they may be as well. We’ll try to update this post to show where we go for food once we leave.

Tonight’s also longtime blog group member Jared Dunn’s last Thursday in town, and I believe he’s planning to join us for dinner, so come bid him farewell as he heads out of town to pursue his LocalProgress project in his hometown in Illinois.

Remember how we used to go for dim sum? Dave Winer, our group’s founder, is in town and would like us to gather in his honor on Sunday, 2/25, at 1 pm at Chau Chow City, 83 Essex Street, Chinatown, Boston.

Dave set up a wiki page where we can RSVP. While RSVPing is not necessary, it does help us get a big enough table and find people at the restaurant.

We can celebrate the Chinese New Year while we’re at it, too.

With each election cycle of the 21st century, more and more citizen journalists have been getting in on the act of covering campaigns and
the stories that swirl around them. The race for governor of
Massachusetts in 2006 has been covered by dozens of bloggers — as well as by journalists who are writing blogs in addition to their video, audio, and print stories in mainstream media outlets. The role that these citizen journalists are playing has been the topic of intense interest among pundits, academics, candidates, and their campaigns alike. One thing is for certain: these citizen journalists, and mainstream journalists experimenting with new media, should be celebrated for their role in making public the discussion about who should be the next Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Please join us at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society for a
celebration to honor all those who have been blogging the vote here in
Massachusetts in 2006. Whatever party, perspective, or new medium you
call your own, or however you get your news about this election, we’d
