Mass Man Killed in Freak Hammock Accident

LYNN — Ramadan Smrqaku, 20, said he didn’t think
much of it when he sat on a hammock Friday in Beverly where two of his
friends were lying. The hammock was tied to a tree and an old chimney.

”It couldn’t hold everyone," said Smrqaku, speaking with an accent
from his native Kosovo. ”The chimney wasn’t built good, and it collapsed."

The 5-foot chimney at a friend’s home on Cogswell Avenue toppled quickly
about 10:45 p.m., Smrqaku said. There was no time to jump from the hammock,
he said, describing how one of the cinder blocks struck his friend’s head,
knocking Visar Luzha unconscious.

”He couldn’t talk or breathe," Smrqaku said. ”He was bleeding all
over. It was really scary."
Shortly later, Luzha, 19, who survived civil war in Kosovo, was pronounced
dead at Beverly Hospital — less than four years after he arrived in America
with his parents, three sisters, and four brothers.

Poor Visar! Survived the war in Kosovo, only to be killed by
a falling chimney in Lynn, Mass. That’s so ironic its almost Zen. But what’s up with that Ramadan Smrqaku? He was in Beverly on Friday, he was the one who brought the chimney down, the friend dies, and on Sunday he is reached by phone in Kosovo? He fled the country? Suspicious…

Lynn,
of course,
is the legendary seaside cesspool of drugs, rackets and corruption just
north of Boston. The old saying goes, "Lynn, Lynn, city of sin.
You never come out the way you went in. Ask for water, they give you a
gin… it’s the darndest city I ever been in." Certainly held true for
young Visar. Plus, the friend, Ramadan Smrqaku, wins the award for Name of the Month….

I do have something to say about this article. Most people don’t know this but anything can happen. Death is unannouced and can happen to anyone at anytime. I was there! I was at that house, I was there living what most people dread. I know what happened, the real truth about everyone’s feelings on the situation.

Rachel, if you can do it without hurting anyone’s feelings, we would love to hear about what really happened. Was it like the article in the paper said? Do you really know Ramadan Smrqaku? Is that his real name? How does he feel about the accident? Our readers are fascinated by this story…..

What really happened? That is kind of hard to tell because no matter what we say it always gets twisted. It was a get together of friends, what is so hard to understand about that. We were all having a good time, some of us were close friends, some were people that we hadn’t known for that long. Ramadan is his real name but we call him Dan, and he was in Kosovo because Visar’s family sent his body back there for a proper burial and Dan and all Visar’s friends went also. This all happened so fast, no one knew that this is what was going to become of our night. It was a freak and tragic accident, the hammock couldn’t take the weight of all the people, and came loose causing the cinder block to fall. This event hurt us all, it happened under my watch, I was in charge of the house and I let this happen. We will never forget that night, we will never forget Visar and we would never want to.

Who is the asshole who wrote this? those comments at the end? You really have some nerve to say something about someone you don’t even know. People are so discusting. I was also there and Visar was one of my friends. Ramadan didn’t “Flee” so don’t talk unless you know the whole situation. Ignorant!
