Siliceous and Delicious

Struggling with motivation a bit this morning. The Listy Fifty just look intimidating now that I have had to go back to before item one—rewriting what I’d written before I started making the list, accounting for the changes wrought by the new culling strategy. Though I had the best of intentions, the day was full of irritating (but unavoidable) interruptions—Andy needed me to install the new camera system for the microscope, which didn’t work and required me to make calls to tech support, I had to talk to a prospective graduate student for Dave, then an hour later ferry that student from Andy to her next appointment, who didn’t show up and I had to hunt down… And so on and so forth.

All in all, the day flew by without so much as anything getting done—it’s almost four o’clock and now I have to go to see this week’s colloquium, which (since Andy mentioned how important it was at least five times over the past month) I apparently can’t miss.

A frustrating day all round.
