Monday is diversity day! Started by deciding to code the O2W function as an O2W function first and later re-code it to allow other exponents. For simplicity’s sake. And in keeping with the spiral approach that I learned so many moons ago in DSA.
After much (!) futzing, managed to produce a plot for the subsampling by-lists, weighted by occurrences-squared algorithm. Interestingly, the single subsampling I produced does not look at all like what Rabosky plots in his paper, but that may just be the luck of the draw (literally). We’ll see what the average of many replicate subsamples looks like. Of course, the slight disappointment is that Charles thinks this algorithm is horse droppings (based on the conclusions of his paper with Andy Bush and Molly Markey). But I set out to code it, and code it I did, so I’m going to call this a successful research day. The first in quite a while. It feels good!
