The Dowbrigade is currently
involved in the very tricky planning for a projected Family European
Vacation, slated to take place sometime in the spring.
AT this point, the "family" consists of yours truly,
No. 2 wife and No. 2 son. The only problem, is that these
two dear individuals, so positive and peaceful under normal circumstances,
turn into Mike Tyson and Andrew Golata after five minutes in the same
room,and the Dowbrigade has no desire to spend his vacation as a referee. Plus,
their interests and pleasures are so different that it is hard to imagine
any
tourist-type activity that could captivate them both. We can see ourself
frantically running, Lucyesque, from the Resin D’etre Hash Bar to the
Dutch Tulip Hothouse and Wooden Shoe Museum. A recipe for disaster.
And we can forget about R & R respite in the famous
Red Light District. According to an article on Expatica, an ex-pat
web site, a cell of Islamic extremists are targeting the famous paid-love
zone for its capitalist, consumerist, sexual and cultural connotations.
We may also have to stay away from Pizza for the duration….
