Apparently due to a man’s love for the medical care he received at at Taiwanese hospital, he decided to start up the D.S. Music Restaurant in Taipei-a completely medical themed restaurant. The founder, Ou, spent 5 million NT$, outfitting the restaurant with medical gear and costumes. Water is served from an IV drip like vat from the ceiling, and crutches hang on the walls. Appropriately, the bathroom is called the “Emergency Room”.
Just when we all thought attacks against the Chinese couldn’t get more blatant, another Gizmodo blog entry and comments shows the true, misguided and hateful thoughts of (primarily) Americans towards the Chinese people. When will the United States realise that China no longer truly considers itself a communistic country? Many countries have realised this switch already, perhaps the States simply refuses.
Regardless, attacks against the Chinese people are uncalled for. The Chinese don’t call American citizens violent, militaristic, dominating people because the United States invaded Iraq. They address the United States government instead, if at all. Perhaps it’s time to stop insulting persons who didn’t do anything wrong.

Inspired by a random spurt of happyness, I decided to indulge myself in my favourite song 「七色の明日」 by BoA. The above is the MV, and hit the jump for lyrics, cd purchase.
After taking a linguistics course in World Englishes, I was exposed to the study of e-English, “electronic English”, which is quickly becoming its own dialect, and potentially the world’s most widely “spoken” dialect of English.
But what about other emerging internet languages, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. While many users in France, Germany, etc., have gone ahead and adopted e-English, these emerging internet languages are developing their own e-Varieties.
As a field of my specialisation is in Asian web-development, I henceforth formally launch my research project on the emergence of internet dialects of the Asian Languages of Japanese, Chinese and Korean, titled “Naomoji-kun: Understanding the Evolution and Development of East Asian Languages as Electronic Languages”. Give me any music game, DDR, Taiko Drum Master, Samba de Amigo, Beatmania, Space Channel 5, and I’ll work my tail off to become proficient at it. But I will reach my goal.
This was, I thought, the reality, until I met Guitar Hero. I never did terribly, per say, but I never reached a level I could confidently call “mastery” until today. I have finally completed all songs for Guitar Hero III for the Wii on Expert. It’s about time. Yeesh. I blame the awkward smaller than life accessory for my ineptitude.
AIM’s Pixnay, a service which allows users to upload pictures of themselves to be ranked by the AIM community for “hotness bragging rights” really is an interesting display of web-culture, and the extent of narcissism truly present in society, but usually hidden.
I’m certainly not calling those who take part in the system narcissistic, but the fact that thousands of people have taken the time to take “the perfect pictures” of themselves to be ranked by others shows, perhaps, the true interests and insecurity of the general public. Pixnay is a semi-anonymous “rate how I look from 1 to 10” for the masses.
China has had a difficult time dealing with the criticism of their definitely-could-be-improved foreign policy. But arrogant and misguided attacks directed towards the Chinese people are never justified. The Chinese people are constantly berated and patronised for the Chinese government’s actions. China won’t pull out of Tibet, though they should, sure; but, when will the US pull out of Iraq? We don’t hear the Chinese constantly attacking US citizens with critical remarks.
