Jakob Nielsen and Don Norman have an article which says:
“Web users are highly goal-driven, and ads that interfere with their goals will be ignored. To succeed, ads must work with the medium, as well as with the user’s aims and mindset. “
My point: Blogs are about linking to stuff you are talking about, right?? If you ask any one with any popular blogger whether they would link to a particular song on iTunes music store while talking about a song, the answer would be, ‘NO’. They don’t get any money for sending people to buy songs on another site. But, they would do so if the other side won’t make any money. So, what apple has to do is just maintain a list of referrers and send them small amounts of money, it doesn’t matter how small the money is. The linkers need to see that there is an advantage for them. Another thing is that the money sent should be seen as a gift rather than a pay, or the linkers will loose the trust of their user. I guess the company who facilitates this process will be the next leader in Online Adv.
