Interfaces and Habits:

Interfaces are habit-forming, But interface designers are often blinded by their own habits, which prevents innovation.” Does the tools being “need centric” rather than “application centric” help? How do Inductive UI design and Morphics fit into this?

Elgoog, Macr architect, searchengine as OS

Elgoog.nl is an info page about Google tools, api, api’s ,ip addresses, touchgraph. via John Dowdell, macromedia MX guy.
Sean Corfield: The head of architecture at macromedia. His thoughts on “ColdFusion MX, Rich Internet Applications, software design… and neat CFMX hacks!” He links to accessibility in Flash.
Search engine as OS? Looks odd? He’s just applying the MVC pattern to searching and the OS.

Macromedia CEO Rob Burgess : Royale is…:

basically Flash for programmers. He mentions three examples to show where flash is going, Want to book a hotel room?, want to buy a car and Want to buy a dig cam (not yet)? Macromedia all set to deliver webservices thro Flash, Central, Royale. Jeff Hill has an article on “Building Flash clients for Web Services with Soap and Flash MX“. I luv Flash video. But I hate obtrusive flash ADs.

Why blog?

has some thought of other bloggers on why they blog. I started because I didn’t have a place to archive my thoughts and information that I find. But after I started, I wanted people to visit my blog. Then I wanted other blogs to link to me and respond to my comments. I think a blog is incomplete with out a weblog analyzer. It is like having a beautiful mouth but badly constructed ears. Unless new comers to the blogging arena have a full featured log analyser to see that someone is looking at their writings, they will stop.

Web counters:

I shifted from two web counters before I settled on my current one. It is pretty good one, shows rawlogs with IPaddress, Referrer, Browser, Resolution, Colors, Timestamp, Time online, Page views. It also has different views like, an analyzer, which gives Top referrers, domains, search words, etc, a calendar view and a browser view.
I still miss some things like linking the visitors IP to visualroute, ability to filter raw logs. But it is pretty good for a free service.

Morphics and Model View Controller:

They are two different UI paradigms used by Squeak. Morphics is the more recent one, first developed at SUN labs for the Self project. So why is Morphics better than MVC? More reading to do…..

Making Web Advertisements Work:

Jakob Nielsen and Don Norman have an article which says:
Web users are highly goal-driven, and ads that interfere with their goals will be ignored. To succeed, ads must work with the medium, as well as with the user’s aims and mindset.

My point: Blogs are about linking to stuff you are talking about, right?? If you ask any one with any popular blogger whether they would link to a particular song on iTunes music store while talking about a song, the answer would be, ‘NO’. They don’t get any money for sending people to buy songs on another site. But, they would do so if the other side won’t make any money. So, what apple has to do is just maintain a list of referrers and send them small amounts of money, it doesn’t matter how small the money is. The linkers need to see that there is an advantage for them. Another thing is that the money sent should be seen as a gift rather than a pay, or the linkers will loose the trust of their user. I guess the company who facilitates this process will be the next leader in Online Adv.
