“Sometime in the future, people are supposed to be able to go to river landing piers separated from one another by short distances that are easily traversed on foot. They should then be able to hail a water taxi, pay five euros ($6.80), and be transported along the Spree. That, at any rate, is the plan that Gerhard Hess worked out five years ago, a plan that by now could have turned into a profitable business for him, if it had not been for the bureaucrats in Berlin.”
