“When tourists see it, their hearts beat faster: a cute little yellow boat with an open top on the Spree, a splash of color moving on the river between the Reichstag and the Museumsinsel, surrounded by large excursion boats filled to capacity.
“The ‘Spree Cab’ is a copy of the little river taxis that sailed New York’s Hudson River in the nineteen-twenties: barely six meters in length with a maximum speed of eight kilometres an hour and outfitted to hold ten passengers.
“Unfortunately, the Spree Cab’s captain, Gerhard Hess, travels alone most of the time.”

„Der Anblick begeistert Touristen: Ein kleines gelbes Bötchen fährt mit offenem Verdeck auf der Spree, ein bunter Fleck, der sich zwischen Reichstag und Museumsinsel inmitten prall gefüllter Ausflugsdampfer bewegt. Das ‚Spree-Cab’ ist ein Nachbau jener Schiffe, die in den zwanziger Jahren in New York über den Hudson setzten: knapp sechs Meter lang, maximal acht Stundenkilometer schnell, gebaut für höchstens zehn Fahrgäste. Nur leider fährt Heß bislang meist allein.“
