The Technical University of Munich Is Not a Terror School – 41
“Murat Kara was born in Berlin, like John, the former pupil and pupils’ representative at the Ruetli School. And like John, Murat grew up in the Berlin district of Neukoelln. He has spent his whole life in that area, just as John has. Unlike with John’s family, though, Murat’s father has always had a job. His father sent Murat to a kindergarten and later to a school where Germans were in the majority. Murat played on a football team that had both Turkish and German players. ‘Our trainer was usually German,’ he says, and he, a Turk, was both a ‘sweeper’ and captain of the team. After graduating from secondary school, Murat did a traineeship in communications electronics at Deutsche Telekom.”

Die Technische Universität München ist keine Terrorschule – 41
„Murat Kara ist in Berlin geboren, so wie Joan, der ehemalige Schülersprecher der Rütli-Schule. Er ist in Neukölln aufgewachsen, wie Joan. Er ist sein ganzes Leben lang noch nie so richtig aus dieser Gegend weggekommen, wie Joan. Aber im Gegensatz zu Joan hat Murats Vater immer Arbeit gehabt. Er hat ihn in einen Kindergarten und in eine Schule geschickt, wo Deutsche in der Mehrzahl waren. Murat spielte im Fußballverein mit Deutschen und Türken in einer Mannschaft. »Der Trainer war meistens Deutscher.« Und Murat, der Türke, war Libero und Kapitän. Er ging auf die Realschule, legte die mittlere Reife ab. Danach machte er bei der Deutschen Telekom eine Ausbildung zum Kommunikationselektroniker.“
