Reception in Celebration of HLS Alum William K. Reilly ’65, October 11, 2012

Former EPA Administrator William K. Reilly, HLS ’65, meets with law students at the reception held in his honor.

Students interested in environmental law had a special opportunity to meet a leader in the field at ELP’s reception to celebrate the extraordinary career of Bill Reilly ’65.

Reilly was president of the Conservation Foundation and the World Wildlife Fund — USA before serving as administrator of EPA under President George H.W. Bush from 1989-1993. In that role, he championed passage of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 and oversaw prosecution and clean up efforts in the aftermath of the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989.

Reilly is currently Chairman of the Board of the World Wildlife Fund — USA, Chairman of ClimateWorks Foundation, and on the board of many nonprofit and private sector companies. He served as co-chair of President Obama’s commission charged with investigating the root causes of the April 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
