Obama SC’08: awaiting Barack’s arrival

Volunteers went out this morning to local churches to read a message from Senator Obama. (I’ll try to find a copy if I can). Of the Democratic candidates, Obama has made the clearest, strongest, and most authentic appeal to Christian voters. It’s why I think he’s got the best chance at victory in November.

Update apropos to that point: an excerpt from Obama this morning at Ebenezer Baptist:

And we have a deficit when it takes a breach in our levees to reveal a breach in our compassion; when it takes a terrible storm to reveal the hungry that God calls on us to feed; the sick He calls on us to care for; the least of these He commands that we treat as our own.

Meanwhile, all of the offices are preparing for an influx of volunteers from all over, including from the NH and NV campaigns — which is critical, given that the universe of outreach targets has jumped massively in the last few days. The get-out-the-vote campaign will be fierce, and if the last four votes are any indication, we will make history in six days.

Right now the bulk of folks are down at the Convention Center, where Barack will be rallying supporters and undecideds within the hour.

Highlight of the day so far: a visit from the Homeboys for Change, led by O’Neal Compton, and their BarackObamaQue. You don’t find chili like this in Massachusetts!
