Iraqi-American Kadhim Alzubaidy makes the best damned baba ganouch in
the city (and a mighty fine falafel to boot). The best thing about
getting lunch at Falafel King is watching the blur of his hands as he
makes the sandwiches, even while he’s chatting everyone up and offering
falafel samples. I’ve also seen him give huge discounts to the local
homeless.
Link is to a Globe article about Kadhim’s family and their troubles in Iraq. It must be a tough time.

Edit (2007 May 3): Apparently this post gets me some smattering of Google hits because I spell it baba ganouch. The “correct” spelling is baba ganoush.
