Why does this site look so bad?

Because Harvard hosts this website for free with a set of allowed themes that have reduced functionality. On one of the themes I couldn’t even use the plugins I needed to change the photos on the slider so I tried to replace them with custom css and managed to delete the slider. I reverted to the old css and… it was still gone. So now I use a different theme. That view counter you see on the left? That needs to be hosted on an outside server that doesn’t use a script because script and css is not allowed in the widget html. I feel the need to point this out because I worked as a web developer for a number of years and this website will probably tarnish that reputation. At least it’s free!
