Happy New Year 2007!
Jan 1st, 2007 by shihjern
About an hour and a half ago, New York celebrated the New Year. This being my first New Year celebration in New York, I decided (or rather, naively insisted) on being at the mother of all New Year parties – Times Square, New York. I planned to arrive at 11.30pm, in good time for the countdown. What a shock I had! There were about a million people and armies of policemen there. My two friends (Ezzeri and Vu) – whom I dragged there against their will – and myself were literally squashed in an ocean of human beings. I am sure the euphoria and celebration were wonderful – the only problem was that we did not really get to see it!
Ah well. Happy New Year, everyone! Work has been lovely so far. As cliched as it may sound, I actually do enjoy my job and like my firm very much. I have now firmly exited the student life and am securely entrenched in the working world. I have had fairly interesting work (what with flying down to Houston to investigate an oil company while staying at the Four Seasons!) and the past two weeks have been really quiet. However, the thunderstorm is about to begin. The global capital markets will soar once again in the new year! Alas, that means that the days of heavy workload are about to begin.
