The defense counsel for the escapees, accused of roles in the assassination of former Chief Minister Beant Singh, have filed an application in court [scroll to bottom of link] stating that Jagtar Singh Hawara and Jagtar Tara have been eliminated by the police:
The defence counsel for the accused moved another application in favour of Jagtar Singh Hawara and Jagtar Tara saying the two had been eliminated as part of a conspiracy on part of the UT administration and police and sought a stay on the PO proceedings to be initiated against them. The judge has reserved his orders on this plea as well on the plea for allowing the media to attend the proceedings till February 19.
The father of the third accused, Paramjit Singh Bheora, has already filed an application with similar allegations.
