Charge Your Phone at the Main Desk of the Library!

ø

The free phone charging station has been moved from HKS Library Commons to the Main Desk. Staff member Phil Satterfield is pictured here next to the station capable of charging a variety of devices.

Other cell phone charging stations at HKS are located in The Study and on the third floor of Littauer.

Did you know that HKS Library also has a number of phone and laptop chargers that you can check out?

Visit a Borrow Direct Library this Summer

ø

Borrow Direct is a resource sharing partnership which currently consists of 13 academic institutions. If a book you are looking for is currently not available at Harvard but is available at one of these institutions, you may use this service to request that the book be delivered to the HKS Library, where you may check it out for six weeks. Harvard has participated in Borrow Direct since June 2011.

You may now also visit these libraries and check out materials currently available via Borrow Direct through the new Borrow Direct Plus On-Site Borrowing program. Each institution maintains its own policies, which you may review via the program’s site. So whether your summer travels take you to New Haven and you would like to visit a Yale University Library, Stanford (the latest institution to join), or near any of the other participating institutions, remember that you can now take advantage of Borrow Direct Plus On-Site Borrowing.

Visiting HKS? Affiliates of  Borrow Direct libraries are welcome to visit and use the HKS Library collections. Please review our policies.

OneSource Global Business Browser is now available at HKS Library

ø

We are happy to announce that OneSource Global Business Browser, which includes a broad range of public and private company and industry information worldwide, is now available on HKS Library PCs via this link. Use it to create a list of companies by industry, location and/or size.

Other resources that allow you to create this type of list include:

  • Plunkett Research, which provides access to industry and company information, including public and private companies. It also provides market research and industry trends, industry statistics, company profiles, and downloadable tables. HKS alumni can access Plunkett Research via this link uniquely for HKS alumni.
  • Orbis, which is a global company database unique in its breadth of geographies and extent of company coverage, including private company financial information.
  • Lexis/Nexis Company Dossier, which provides tools to create lists of companies, executives and to locate industry information via its Get Company Info section.
The Harvard Library has also recently purchased a historical dataset on U.S. companies called Infogroup Historical Business Backfile, 1997-2014.
If you have questions about these or other resources, please Ask Us.
