Chinese internet media have been focusing on the Shanxi Brick Factory case recently.
A week ago, SINA reported that 31 slave workers had been rescued from a brick factory in Hongtong, Shanxi province by police. Workers were so badly treated–15-hour-intensive working, watched by safeguards, food of lowest possible expenses, and severe torture for any attempt to flee–that the report labeled it as a “modern slave” case.
Yesterday (June 13th) a post appeared on a major Chinese BBS (“Tianya” Forum) in the name of 400 fathers, reporting their children be kept laboring by a similar brick factory in Shanxi province. The post was given much credibility, as on the same day a governmental media Henan TV reported that concrete evidence had found and publicly accused Shanxi police’s refusing to investigate.
What was stated in the post and reported by Henan TV aroused great rage. Among the 580,000 viewers of the post, tens of thousands of commented with their anger towards the evil owner of the brick camp, their sympathy for the child slaves, and their resentment towards the government with folded arms.

他们的孩子不幸被人贩子骗卖到山西黑窑场做苦工，他们倾家荡产，冒着生命危险一次次潜入大山深处寻找他们的孩子。两个月来，他们先后营救出40余人，从 中得到一些宝贵线索。可当他们找到有关部门遇到的却是互相推诿！400多位绝望至极的父亲在网上联名发出求救信——《孩子被卖山西黑砖窑400位父亲泣血 呼救》，网友反响强烈。
据媒体透露，在山西黑砖窑做苦工的孩子至少有1000人。而昨日，恰是“世界无童工日”。
砖窑“黑人”生活在悲惨世界
6月5日，大河论坛出现一个题为——《罪恶的“黑人”之路！孩子被卖山西黑砖窑400位父亲泣血呼救》的帖子，帖子以400位河南籍父亲的口吻陈述：他 们的孩子大多在郑州火车站、汽车站、立交桥下、马路边等地方被人贩子或诱骗或强行拉上车，以500元一个的价格卖到山西的黑砖窑做苦工，山西临汾市、永济 市是窑场比较集中的地方。
帖子里描述了不久前成功的一次解救过程，情景催人泪下——“我们被眼前的情景惊呆了：在这些手脚并用、头发长得像野人一样的孩子中间，有的已经整整和外 界隔绝了七年，有的因逃跑未遂被打致残；有的孩子被监工用烧红的砖头把背部烙得血肉模糊（后被人救出在医院治了数月也未痊愈）。他们每天工作14个小时以 上，还不让吃饱饭，有时因劳累过度，稍有怠工就会被监工随手拿起的砖头砸得头破血流，然后随便拿起一块破布一裹了之，继续干活，至于拳打脚踢，棍棒伺候更 是家常便饭，更有甚者，有的孩子被打手打成重伤也不给医治，如不能自愈或伤情恶化，奄奄一息时黑心的工头和窑主就把被骗的苦工活活埋掉。这些孩子身上都因 为长期不洗澡长满了牛皮癣似的皮屑，他们最小的只有8岁，8岁的孩子为了一顿饱餐是那么顺从，每天都干着成人都难以承受的重活。他们被限制了人身自由，全 天候有监工或打手巡逻站岗。”
由于势单力薄，父亲们只能尽可能地解救了40名河南籍的孩子，“对那些来自湖北、四川等外省的孩子，我们为无力改变他们的命运而愧疚”。由于这些黑砖窑都在大山深处，再加上窑主们“消息灵通”，致使解救起来难上加难。
