The Technical University of Munich* – Professors under Suspicion – 13
And it pays to be on the receiving end of a fake doctorate. In Germany, an engineer with a doctor’s degree can, over a lifetime, earn at least a quarter of a million euros (365,000 US dollars) more than a colleague with only a master’s degree. In addition to all this, there are now suspicions of a “porous border” between the point where the fake doctorates are bought and sold and the area where institutional clerical staff has control. It’s not really a question of petty criminals, though, but rather a question of genuine corruption.

That is, for example, seven places below Seoul National University.

Das rechnet sich. Ein promovierter Ingenieur zum Beispiel kann in seinem Berufsleben mindestens eine Viertelmillion Euro mehr verdienen als sein nur diplomierter Kollege. Auch dürfen fließende Grenzen zwischen Vermittlungs- und Schreibdiensten vermutet werden. Es handelt sich nicht um Kleinkriminalität, sondern um astreine Korruption.
