The Technical University of Munich* – “In Germany, Old Secret Police Agents Never Die, They Just Change Uniforms” – 17
(NOTE: This report illustrates just how long and persistent German institutional memory can be, and who can embody it, even in cases where there may not be a direct link with a German university like the Technical University of Munich.)
Now known officially as “Die Bundesbeauftragte für die Unterlagen des Staatssicherheitsdienstes der ehemaligen Deutschen Demokratischen Republik,“ the German government office that now controls access to all Stasi documents contains thousands of transcripts of the interrogations that Stasi officers, like the one referred to here, carried out. This office is also the repository for reports of what happened to the victims, and the staff can hardly believe that Stasi interrogators from Department IX are today, in a state of the Federal Republic of Germany, heads of department in the Office of Criminal Investigation.

Die Technische Universität München* – „In Deutschland sterben Stasi-Agenten nie, sie wechseln einfach die Uniformen“ – 17
Tausende dieser Vernehmerprotokolle lagern in der Stasi-Unterlagenbehörde. Auch Berichte über die Schicksale der Opfer. Dass Stasi-Vernehmer aus der Abteilung IX heute im LKA Dezernate leiten, kann man hier kaum glauben.
