“In an interview with Die Zeit, Haug emphasized that he doesn’t want his move to Zurich to be seen as a kind of flight from Germany. He does, though, want to leave a warning for German politicians concerned with research and education: ‘We’ve already had all kinds of five-year plans in Germany, and we should have realized by now that that approach just doesn’t work – certainly not in science’.”

„Als Flucht aus Deutschland will Haug, das betont er in einem Gespräch mit der ZEIT, seinen Umzug nach Zürich nicht verstanden wissen. Einen Denkzettel für deutsche Forschungspolitiker hinterlässt er aber sehr wohl: »Fünfjahrespläne hatten wir doch schon einmal. Wir sollten also wissen, dass das nicht funktioniert – schon gar nicht in der Wissenschaft.« “
