“No one monitors German university professors: are they doing research or just sitting around and twiddling their thumbs?
“From an international perspective, professors at German universities are bringing up the rear. Between 1900 and 1930 there were fourteen Nobel Prize laureates from Germany in chemistry alone. Today there are only four German Nobel prize laureates – and all of them live and do their research abroad, where, incidentally, graduate students receive better treatment as well.
Is it perhaps German university professors who are the cause of the miserable state of German education?”

„Keiner kontrolliert, ob Hochschullehrer forschen oder Däumchen drehen. International sind deutsche Professoren mittlerweile Schlusslicht. Zwischen 1900 und 1930 kamen allein 14 Nobelpreisträger für Chemie aus Deutschland. Heute gibt es lediglich vier deutsche Nobelpreisträger – die aber leben und forschen im Ausland, wo auch die studentische Betreuung besser ist. Sind die Professoren vielleicht Schuld an der Bildungsmisere?”
