Praise Falling on Deaf Ears (Of Course Nothing Here Could Possibly Apply to the Technical University of Munich) – 11
“Psychologist Susanne Schmid says that at home she would have only two alternatives: ‘Either a vague hope of tenure or else practically no possibility of teaching at a German university beyond the age of forty.’ Like Maly and Schmid, most of those at the conference noted the lack of the kind of tenure track that scientists at US universities have. After an initial limited professorship, it’s possible for them to remain at a university and become full professors.”

Ins Leere gelobt (aber selbstverständlich kann dieser Artikel überhaupt nicht für die Technische Universität München gelten) – 11
„Eine ‚vage Hoffnung auf eine Professur oder praktisch ein Berufsverbot mit Anfang Vierzig’ – vor dieser Alternative sieht sich die Psychologin Susanne Schmid in Deutschland gestellt. Wie Maly und Schmid vermissen die meisten in Deutschland den tenure track, mit dem Wissenschaftler in den USA auch nach ihrer ersten befristeten Professur an einer Uni bleiben und zum vollwertigen Professor berufen werden können.”
