Revenge of the German Bureaucrats (Naturally Not at the Technical University of Munich) – 2
“Woerner is chairman of the association responsible for accrediting courses of engineering studies throughout Germany, an association in which the educational efforts of twenty-nine universities are organized. In the name of these universities, the President of the Technical University of Darmstadt is venturing to take on the system of course credits that was agreed upon by EU countries at a conference at Bologna in 1999. Critics of this action say that whoever plays around with the credit system may well be after larger changes in the entire reform of EU universities. ‘The system is not always being followed now,’ warns Juergen Kohler, who heads the German accrediting council that was set up to make sure that the Bologna standards are adhered to.”
