“The man’s name is Siegfried Arnz. He is fifty-five years old, and for a year he has been the person in the Berlin administration responsible for schools like the Ruetli. That means he is a man from the bureaucracy, though he does not look like it, with the laugh lines around his eyes, the silver ring in his ear, and the funny silk tie with its image of three mountain climbers going up a blue rock face.”

„Der Mann heißt Siegfried Arnz. Er ist 55 Jahre alt und seit einem Jahr in der Berliner Senatsverwaltung zuständig für die Hauptschulen. Ein Mann der Bürokratie also, obwohl er nicht so aussieht mit seinen Lachfalten um die Augen, dem silbernen Ring im Ohr und dem ulkigen Seidenschlips, auf dem drei Bergsteiger eine blaue Felszinne erklimmen.“
