ancient snapshot
their last smiles
for the camera

I’ve been missing my twin, Arthur, lately — wishing he lived nearby. The
colorized 1951 portrait below, from just before out second birthday, might
be the last time any one could get us to smile for the camera (at least simul-
taneously). As you can see, I am already a little reluctant. Not much (heh)
had changed a half century later.
update: Sept. 2, 2004: By popular demand, Big Sister Linda (who is also
missed a lot, but emails much more than my ex-womb-mate) joins the photo
display!
update (Sept. 24, 2004): Back home from a rare visit with both siblings (Mom and Dad, too),
I offer two more family photos below. As you’ll see, I was not in charge of choosing the pictures.
[according to Mom: David on the left, and Arthur, Jan. ’54
— those are our first and last bow ties!]

(Ed. Note: this one keeps me humble; when did Big Sister stop aging?)

p.s. Hey, Mama G., thanks for taking the pictures, even
when we weren’t cooperating. And, thanks for saving them
(and remembering which twin was which).
