  1. Truly, you link to me more often than is strictly rational, but you mustn’t frustrate your discerning readers with a broken URL.

I suspect the post you had in mind was my dissection of the good Senator’s “Serial Springsteen Abuse,” here.

I have fond memories of Springsteen myself: I saw him at the Paramount Theater in Oakland on the “Born to Run” tour, the week he appeared on the covers of both Time and Newsweek. I thought the balcony would collapse, we were so enthusiastic. The most thrillingly exhausting concert experience I’ve ever had. Difficult character that I am, I maintain that everything after “Darkness on the Edge of Town” is something of a let-down.

  3. Thank you for discovering and covering my errant link, George. I hope none of the robot search thingies were frustrated by the missing link.

I can’t explain why I never became a Springsteen fan — I never disliked his stuff, but somehow never took the time to “get into it.” The only album of his that I own is a CD of “Tunnel of Love.” Perhaps my decade-long detour into country music kept me from following Mr. S closely.

“Thrillingly exhausting” is quite an accolade, and I guess things can easily be anticlimactic thereafter. My own favorite live concert experience was probably seeing Traffic at Constitution Hall in D.C. on their farewell tour.
