A stray thought: The fact that my favorite REM album is Monster is a form of carbon dating (though as a former debate geek, the REM song that holds the most sentimental value is on Document).

    Wow, I’m usually not such a journalistic curmudgeon, but I think that article could easily have been half as long and twice as informative. It’s a fascinating subject, and the writer was relying on it too much for a crutch.
