The latest list of the largest 500 supercomputers has been released. More than three quarters (77.8%) run Linux and seven of the ten largest run SUSE Linux:
- SUSE Linux

- UNICOS

I am surprised to see Red Hat Linux up there. I know SUSE was one of the most used OS for supercomputers but Red Hat blew my mind. In a few years I believe Ubuntu will be ran on some supercomputers but it has to be a more stable OS. It’s gaining steam with popularity but it needs to be more stable to go on a supercomputer in groups of computer towers called the black forest.
