Breaking News: Will Rumsfeld Go Back In Time?

It’s official: 62% of polled believe that Rumsfeld has lost his mojo. Next thing you know, he’ll be going back in time to recover it.

I could rehash the oft-stated comment that the line between real news and The Onion is getting fuzzy. In fact, there’s something even more interesting going on here. Real news is always biased. Humorous news is sometimes a bit liberal but, because everyone is bound to screw up at some point, it usually makes fun of everyone. Humor may well be the only fair and balanced way to do reporting.

On that note, I’d like to share my favorite, better-than-real-news, Onion article. The first time I read it, it gave me chills and almost brought me to tears. If you haven’t seen it, read it right now. If you’ve already seen it, read it again.

God Angrily Clarifies ‘Don’t Kill’ Rule

UPDATE: My friend Greg points me to the “gold standard for life imitating The Onion” with this prophetic Onion gem. Yes, it is biased, but note that it was written in January 2001, before Bush took office.
