{"id":3876,"date":"2010-10-27T23:10:35","date_gmt":"2010-10-28T06:10:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/yulelog\/?p=3876"},"modified":"2010-10-27T23:10:35","modified_gmt":"2010-10-28T06:10:35","slug":"send-me-to-web-2-0-summit-in-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/yulelog\/2010\/10\/27\/send-me-to-web-2-0-summit-in-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Send me to Web 2.0 Summit in November?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I spent half an hour this afternoon ogling the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.web2summit.com\/web2010\/public\/schedule\/speakers\">speaker line-up<\/a> for the upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/www.web2summit.com\/web2010\">Web 2.0 Summit<\/a> in San Francisco &#8211; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.web2summit.com\/web2010\/public\/schedule\/detail\/16120\">Education<\/a> &#8220;point of control&#8221; holds enough of interest to make me want to be there &#8211; but then I looked at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.web2summit.com\/web2010\/public\/content\/pricing\">price of admission<\/a> and needed to sit down: $4195 (and it&#8217;s by invitation only, just to rub it in).<\/p>\n<p>Anyone want to get me invited &#8211; and give me a ticket? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/map.web2summit.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 4px solid white\" src=\"http:\/\/assets.en.oreilly.com\/1\/event\/39\/web2010_map_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"193\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a>Very late to the game, I left a <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/YuleHeibel\/status\/28962344274\">comment<\/a> on the <a href=\"http:\/\/map.web2summit.com\/\">Points of Control Map<\/a> just now &#8211; apparently, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.web2summit.com\/2010\/10\/14\/points-of-control-map-the-contest\/\">one can qualify to win<\/a> a free pass that way&#8230;! My comment argued for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/user\/lampertina\">Diigo<\/a>, which I didn&#8217;t see on the map, but which offers unique and interesting opportunities, particularly in education and academic endeavors.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, I was reminded of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/\">OpenDemocracy.net<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/author\/tony-curzon-price\">Tony Curzon Price<\/a> who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opendemocracy.net\/blog\/tony_curzon_price\/help_me_online_annotate_jonathan_zittrains_new_book\">used Diigo to do a collaborative online annotation<\/a> of Jonathan Zittrain&#8217;s book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0300124872?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=jonatzittr-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0300124872\">The Future of the Internet &#8211; and how to stop it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the absence of a fairy godmother sponsor, winning a free pass would sure be nice.
