My awareness of it started because I found the reference on <a href=\"http:\/\/weblog.siliconvalley.com\/column\/dangillmor\/archives\/001042.shtml#001042\">Dave Gillmor&#8217;s blog<\/a>.  Checked out <a href=\"http:\/\/cyberlaw.stanford.edu\/lessig\/blog\/archives\/2003_05.shtml#001223\">Larry Lessig&#8217;s suggestion<\/a>, saw the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/insideOutsideStarbucks\">pictures<\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/insideOutsideStarbucks\">Dave Winer&#8217;s blog<\/a>.  Since I&#8217;ve <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/yulelog\/2003\/04\/16\">blogged about this<\/a> particular corporation before, I thought at first that since we have a score of these shops in Victoria, I would take pictures in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.travel-victoria.com\/scenicdrives\/drivetour15b.htm\">Cook Street Village<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.travel-victoria.com\/scenicdrives\/drivetour29.htm\">Oak Bay Village<\/a>.  Then I saw the <a href=\"http:\/\/cyberlaw.stanford.edu\/mt\/mt-comments.cgi?entry_id=1223\">criticisms<\/a> that this was just <a href=\"http:\/\/emergentreport.com\/dj\/archives\/000360.html\">advertising for the corporation<\/a>, and I had the idea to have the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestranger.com\/2002-04-04\/city5.html\">Card<\/a> starring in a series of redeployments.  (You might know that there is a movement afoot to get people to stop using that card because first, it&#8217;s effectively an interest-free loan to the corporation: to whit, you stock up your card for $50 and use it up over the course of time, but the corporation has your $50 from Day One, times a couple of million, interest-free; and second, it doesn&#8217;t allow adding on a tip, and the barista-workers are effectively losing money even as the corporation gets an interest-free loan, from you.)    Several themes suggested themselves:   1. <a href=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/gems\/yulelog\/DSCN0989.JPG\">The I am not a crook card<\/a>   2. &#8220;The Kewpie Doll card&#8221;   3. &#8220;the Banana Republic card&#8221;    Any other suggestions?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Probably hundreds of people are out and about this weekend taking pictures of a certain coffee shop franchise.
