{"id":211,"date":"2007-08-24T03:47:45","date_gmt":"2007-08-24T07:47:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ugasser\/2007\/08\/24\/open-access-to-law-swiss-data-privacy"},"modified":"2007-08-24T03:54:56","modified_gmt":"2007-08-24T07:54:56","slug":"open-access-to-law-swiss-data-privacy-cases-now-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/ugasser\/2007\/08\/24\/open-access-to-law-swiss-data-privacy-cases-now-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Open Access to Law: Swiss Data Privacy Cases Now Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m delighted to announce that our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fir.unisg.ch\/org\/fir\/web.nsf\/wwwPubhomepage\/webhomepageeng?opendocument\">Research Center for Information Law <\/a>at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unisg.ch\/hsgweb.nsf\/wwwPubhomepage\/webhomepageger?opendocument\">University of St. Gallen<\/a> &#8211; usually focusing more on basic research rather than implementing project work &#8211; has just launched an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fir.unisg.ch\/datenschutz\">online data privacy case law collection<\/a> (in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fir.unisg.ch\/users\/fir\/Datenschutz\/index.html\">German<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fir.unisg.ch\/users\/fir\/Datenschutz\/fr\/index.html\">French<\/a>) that features the entire collection of cases decided by the Swiss Commission for Data Privacy and Freedom of Information from 1993 &#8211; 2006. The Commission has now been integrated into the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bundesverwaltungsgericht.ch\/\">Tribunal administrativ federal<\/a>&#8220;, the branch of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bger.ch\/\">Supreme Court<\/a> that deals with administrative law issues.  Free online access to the collection is particularly exciting since only <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vpb.admin.ch\/homepage_de.html\">part<\/a> of the Commission&#8217;s decisions has been published so far. Thanks are due to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bk.admin.ch\/\">Swiss Federal Chancellery<\/a> and the St. Gallen University&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foko.unisg.ch\/org\/foko\/web.nsf\/wwwPubhomepage\/webhomepageger?Opendocument\">Research Council <\/a>for financial support.
