{"id":481,"date":"2007-02-14T16:48:32","date_gmt":"2007-02-14T23:48:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/sweetpea\/2007\/02\/14\/valentines-day\/"},"modified":"2007-02-14T22:39:57","modified_gmt":"2007-02-15T05:39:57","slug":"valentines-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/sweetpea\/2007\/02\/14\/valentines-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Valentine&#8217;s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Valentine&#8217;s Day!\u00a0 Yes, yes,\u00a0I realize no one really celebrates it and it&#8217;s all very commercial and whatnot (*insert appropriate amount of cynicism here*).\u00a0 But I support any holiday that gives me an excuse to eat chocolate.\u00a0\u00a0Yummmm&#8230;chocolate&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>So T dropped by my office this afternoon to surprise me with flowers and to take me to lunch.\u00a0 While I love getting flowers in general, this was especially sweet\u00a0because he had been at work since 3pm the day before, hadn&#8217;t gotten any sleep yet because he had to work overtime and was due back at work at 5pm today.\u00a0 I, in the meanwhile, had\u00a0driven\u00a0back to the apartment to surprise him and take him out to lunch.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>. . .Okay, that actually didn&#8217;t happen, but\u00a0wouldn&#8217;t that have been so Gift of the Magi of me?\u00a0\u00a0Unfortunately, what actually happened was that I\u00a0had to\u00a0help with a motion that had to be filed today, so I couldn&#8217;t even be taken to lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly,\u00a0since I&#8217;ve been so lax about\u00a0posting (as several friends have pointed out recently!), here&#8217;s a recap:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Saw Wicked this weekend.\u00a0 It was\u00a0great.\u00a0 I started crying during the second act, in anticipation of the Wicked Witch of the West&#8217;s demise\u00a0(per\u00a0The Wizard of Oz).\u00a0 Despite the tough exterior I present (hey, stop laughing), I am made of goo and regularly cry watching Hallmark commercials.<\/li>\n<li>T and I made dinner\u00a0Monday night, a very unusual occurence as neither of us cook.\u00a0 T made chicken and mushrooms in a black bean sauce.\u00a0 I made the rice.\u00a0\u00a0Borrowed (non-Asian) Roomie&#8217;s rice cooker, only to discover that I don&#8217;t actually\u00a0know how to cook rice (I may be the worst Asian ever).\u00a0 Fortunately, after a couple of telephone calls, and a bit of derision from\u00a0my sister B, I was able to put the pieces together.\u00a0 The pieces, by the way, are essentially:\u00a0 (a) put rice in pot, (b) put water in pot, (c)\u00a0press button labeled &#8220;cook.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Went to a fantastic Indian dinner last night organized\u00a0by\u00a0a <a href=\"http:\/\/lauraloh.blogspot.com\/\">friend<\/a> of mine.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/followthefrog.blogspot.com\/\">The Frog<\/a> has done a\u00a0very good recapping it, so I&#8217;ll spare you all.\u00a0 I woke up still stuffed this morning.\u00a0 Needless to say, it didn&#8217;t stop me from eating my big bowl of Special K with Berries.\u00a0 Because I do every morning and I&#8217;m nothing if not a creature of habit.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Valentine&#8217;s Day!\u00a0 Yes, yes,\u00a0I realize no one really celebrates it and it&#8217;s all very commercial and whatnot (*insert appropriate amount of cynicism here*).\u00a0 But I support any holiday that gives me an excuse to eat chocolate.\u00a0\u00a0Yummmm&#8230;chocolate&#8230;.
