{"id":73,"date":"2006-12-28T16:29:10","date_gmt":"2006-12-28T20:29:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/sunnyahn\/2006\/12\/28\/an-inconvenient-truth-of-global-warm"},"modified":"2006-12-29T10:00:07","modified_gmt":"2006-12-29T14:00:07","slug":"an-inconvenient-truth-of-global-warming-is-a-reality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/sunnyahn\/2006\/12\/28\/an-inconvenient-truth-of-global-warming-is-a-reality\/","title":{"rendered":"An Inconvenient Truth of Global Warming is a Reality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It continues to infuriate me that there are still some that question the concept of global warming.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over the last 100 years, the average global temperature has risen by a degree F, with certain high latitude areas having increased by 4 degrees F.\u00a0 Such increases in temperature have melted away\/degraded the permafrost and have caused more than 95% of the world&#8217;s glaciers to retreat.\u00a0 In some locations, the glaciers have essentially disappeared.\u00a0 One example of this is the Pasterze.\u00a0 Shown below, &#8220;the Pasterze, Austria&#8217;s longest glacier, was about 2 kilometers in the 19th century (in 1875), is now completely out of sight&#8221; today, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldviewofglobalwarming.org\/pages\/glaciers.html\">World View of Global Warming website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pasterze &#8211; 1875\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Pasterze &#8211; 2004<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"127\" alt=\"Picture4.gif\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/sunnyahn\/files\/2006\/12\/Picture4.gif\" width=\"158\" \/>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"127\" alt=\"Picture2.gif\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/sunnyahn\/files\/2006\/12\/Picture2.gif\" width=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Source: 1875 photo courtesy H.
