Each one believeth in God\u00a0and His angels and His books\u00a0and His messengers &#8211; We make no distinction between any one of His messengers &#8211; and they say: We hear, and we obey. (Grant us) Thy forgiveness, our Lord. Unto Thee is the homecoming.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(286)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000\">God does\u00a0not burden\u00a0a soul beyond its capacity. For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved. Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us, and have mercy on us, You are\u00a0our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Trans. modified from Pickthall&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is said that the &#8220;<em>disbelieving folk<\/em>&#8221; refers to the elements of ourselves that refuse to recognize who we are, to come to grips with reality. \u00a0&#8220;<em>Victory over<\/em>&#8220;<em>\u00a0<\/em>them<em>\u00a0<\/em>refers to victory over illusion and confusion, and the reunification of the\u00a0soul. \u00a0The beginning of the verse assures this victory since, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #000000\">God does\u00a0not burden\u00a0a soul beyond its capacity.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a
