After last Thursday morning’s posting about a wee sore throat, the symptoms got worse. I ended up leaving work early, going home, and vomitting for the first time in nearly a decade. I thought that was the worst of it, until around 11PM when I woke up from a restless and uncomfortable sleep to use the bathroom (and possibly throw up again).

I tried standing up after using the toilet and had no strength. I ended up collapsing to the floor. There I was, living alone, laying on the floor next to the toilet without the strength to move. I ended up staying there for about 10 minutes until I worked up the strength the crawl (CRAWL) on my hands and knees to my bed (which is fortunately only about 5 feet away from the bathroom door). Using all of my might, I crawled onto the bed leaving the television and every single light on until morning.

I can honestly say that I’ve never felt so sick in my entire life. It’s funny, I used to always question when celebrities/politicians “collapse” and then blame it on the flu. Most recently, I recall Hillary Rodham Clinton speaking at a university in New York this past winter and then collasping at the podium from flu-related exhaustion. I kept thinking it must be something else: my flu’s never caused that. Well, now I can relate. However, unlike Hillary and George Bush, Sr. (remember him puking at that Japanese dinner?) I know enough to go home when I’m that sick.

Though, there’s always a silver lining and the benefit from being sick for the past 5 days is that I’ve been reintroduced to the absolute best game show in television history:

Match Game

How awesome is that show? You’ve got B-list celebrities from the 1970’s spewing one sexual innuendo after another. And how many television games shows can you recall that actually put ash trays on set for the celebrities to use? And, I swear some of those celebrities were drunk up there. In fact, McLean Stevenson was actually drinking something throughout the show and he was having a ball. So, you’ve essentially got an AbFab-esque crew of B-list celebrities responding to sexual innuendo, while dressed in their decadent 70’s finest polyesters.

Sick as a dog are the only words I can use to described how I’ve been for the past few days.
