Angie played a cruel joke on me. You see, Angie is Matt’s assistant at work. She is the person who knew a breeder in New Jersey and helped Matt get Dusty for my birthday. In fact, she is the one who drove down to New Jersey, viewed the entire litter, chose Dusty over all of the other Shih Tzu’s and then drove back to Boston.<\/P>
\n

Now after 4 weeks of living with Dusty, Matt and I have realized something. Dusty is the female dog (dare I say, bitch) version of Matt. I swear! I’m not lying.<\/P>
\n

First, Dusty whines non-stop. If she doesn’t get her way or if she doesn’t get enough attention, she makes her presence known. Matt does the same thing but with words (imagine the following words being uttered in shrill fashion by a pre-pubescent, red-headed, freckled, fat boy with acne, braces and black-framed glasses: “Why can’t we go out to eat tonight”, or “I hate the subway”, or “You’re not my father.”<\/P>
\n

Second, Dusty is also quite lazy (which is rather fortunate because when she’s hyper, it’s exhausting for me…just like Matt). Once Dusty is tired out though, she plops down and sleeps. It’s not unusual for her to be running from one end of the room to the other and just drop mid-way with all four legs spread out. Although Matt tends to make it to a chair first, he will plop down for mere seconds before falling sound asleep (as he did right now as I type). And, as another example of laziness, just look at my blog posting from Friday regarding the maid service.<\/P>
\n

Third, we learned today during Dusty’s walk through the city that she hates the outdoors. (see photos of this adventure here: http:\/\/f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com\/ph\/snarl71\/album?.dir=\/51fd&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a\/\/photos.yahoo.com\/bc\/snarl71<\/A> ) We carried her out of the building and across the street to the harborwalk park in the North. As you can see from the pictures, lots of grass, blue skies and water. She (and Matt) hated it. <\/P>

Matt has always said he likes concrete and not nature. Well, Dusty was the same way. She hated the grass. When we put her on the concrete walkway or went on the wooden dock, she was okay. But she wasn’t happy until we returned to our climate-controlled condo. And neither was Matt.<\/P>
\n

Other minor areas where there are similarities are that they both go to the bathroom constantly, they both don’t know when to stop eating, they’re both clutsy, they both follow me around the condo, and in their own unique ways, they’re both adorable.<\/P>
