I guess I should feel fortunate that my little bug wasn’t the flu…nor was it a cold. I had a few REALLY bad days of aches and pains, but no vomitting and no congestion. Now that the aches and pains are finally gone, I just feel lethargic. If that’s the worst of it, I feel blessed. I’ve heard way too many horror stories this winter from people suffering through all kinds of discomforts.

Anyway, on Friday, Rich came over and we ended ordering in from Pizzeria Regina (MMMMMMM) and watched a few DVD’s. On Saturday, I took the train down to Plymouth where my parents (and Dusty) picked me up. We then drove down to the Cape and had lunch at the old seafood restaurant I worked at during high school.

The place was owned by Chef Sigmund (and was also the name of the restaurant). It’s in a new location now (West Main Street, Hyannis) but the chowder is still the best chowder I’ve ever had. After we ate, Sigmund’s son recognized me and pullled me into the kitchen. Wow – although it was a different location, it was just like old times. Sigmund is now retired and his son, Jan (pronounced Yahn) now runs the place.

But the smells and sounds of the kitchen brought back so many memories for me. Ah, youth. Though, I must admit I don’t miss smelling like seafood every night. I remember I went through lots of footwear working there because they’d wreak of seafood (and would get covered in the breading used to fry the fish, clams, scallops and shrimp).

The rest of the weekend was nice and relaxing, too. Dusty ended up sleeping with me Saturday night. This is something she would never do when she lived with me (she was also a puppy at the time). But now that she’s older, she likes to lay next my chest under the covers (with her head sticking out) and my arm around her. However, she doesn’t really approve when I move in my sleep. She can be a very vocal stretcher for a 14 pound dog.

After I got back to Boston, Rich came over and he cooked me dinner (since I’m still so worn out). I then fell asleep on the sofa and went to bed. Poor Rich. I’m just feeling so weak and tired that I’ve had no energy to entertain him when he visited Friday and Sunday. It’s pretty sad when you have company over and THEY cook you dinner.

I’m a class act.

I still managed to have a nice weekend even though I still feel like I’m fighting something.
