The camera flipped from street scenes to train stations to government buildings -all showing somber Britons standing in silence.

Then the news anchor introduces a live reporter in London – standing on a street surrounded by people partaking of this moment of silence. And the idiot news reporter starts talking and reporting! Meanwhile, people are turning their heads at this stupid American disrupting their moment of silence.

What the hell is wrong with people from our country? I don’t blame the rest of the world for hating us. Not only is our leader an idiot, apparently, the residents aren’t much better.

And speaking of idiot Americans, I saw an advanced screening of the movie, “Happy Endings” last night. I really liked the movie, but the characters in the film were less than desirable. Without giving too much away, a sister has sex with her step-brother, then goes away for an abortion. Then, a woman has sex with a closeted gay man because she needs a free place to stay. She eventually also has sex with that man’s father and gets pregnant (not knowing who the father is: the gay guy or his dad). She has an abortion. There’s also some prostitution, illegal immigration, adultery, sperm donorship and some drug use. Oh, did I mention the crazy filmaker with the gun?

Still, I enjoyed the film (as I did the director’s first film: The Opposite of Sex). But if this movie ever gets played overseas, I’m sure it’s not going to help people’s impressions of us Americans!

So, I’m watching the CBS Morning News and they’re showing live footage of a moment of silence taking place in the United Kingdom in memory of the fatalities associated with the terrorist attacks a week ago today.
