{"id":717,"date":"2004-12-18T02:28:54","date_gmt":"2004-12-18T06:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/metasj\/2004\/12\/18\/completing-the-wikarchy\/"},"modified":"2004-12-18T02:28:54","modified_gmt":"2004-12-18T06:28:54","slug":"completing-the-wikarchy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/sj\/2004\/12\/18\/completing-the-wikarchy\/","title":{"rendered":"Completing the Wikarchy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a701'><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of remiss, I&#8217;ve long been remiss for not writing about <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/sj\/2004\/12\/12#a687\">Wikinews<\/a>, and how it works for or against my own interests in a <a href=\"http:\/\/meta.wikimedia.org\/Press%20Corps\">press corps<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/meta.wikimedia.org\/Wikisummaries\">clippings<\/a> service that make use of this hyar new-fangled <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Whee-Quay<\/span> technology.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikinews.org\">current wikinews project<\/a> :<br \/>\n1) doesn&#8217;t take itself seriously enough to center itself on a grand vision, creating something for the ages, and <br \/>\n2) continues to focus on individual ego and interest rather than a notion of completeness as applies to news, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">but<\/span><br \/>\n3) picks up a definite pocket of interest that was stymied by having no real outlet in other wikimedia projects.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left: 40px;\">&#8220;&#8230;news content about<br \/>\nevery newsworthy person, place, movement, and event, covering dated<br \/>\nnews from the past (fit into a timeline), fresh news from the present<br \/>\n(qualified by how well and by how many indep sources it could be<br \/>\nverified), and spotty news from\/about the near future (qualified by the<br \/>\nquality of leaking sources, idenfitied with related events in the past,<br \/>\nand cross-referenced with [statistics from] a predictions registry)&#8230;&#8221;\n<\/div>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Now <\/span>you&#8217;re talking. <\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/billdoskoch.blogware.com\/blog\/_archives\/2004\/12\/10\/202273.html'>Completing the Wikarchy &#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking of remiss, I&#8217;ve long been remiss for not writing about Wikinews, and how it works for or against my own interests in a press corps and clippings service that make use of this hyar new-fangled Whee-Quay technology.
