Some people hate Mondays; I hate<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Fridays <\/span>more.&nbsp; I rushed to finish, not only to be done by sundown,<br \/>\nbut also to make it home and clean up in time for the music I was<br \/>\nassured would be taking place.&nbsp; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">E-flat<\/span>, one of my oldest friends<br \/>\nand twins, hangs out with some of the coolest musicians in the<br \/>\ncountry.&nbsp; Every now and then some of them stop by to say hello.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, two people who play in a band with her (they&#8217;ll be at the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Burren <\/span>tomorrow<br \/>\nfrom 5-7pm; go see them!) and an old friend from H-town showed up to<br \/>\njam.&nbsp;&nbsp; Two more filled out a string sextet, and we all <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">made merry<\/span> until midnight.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: italic;\"><\/span>&#8220;<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">[One] little, [one] big<\/span>&#8221; &#8212; so goes the title of an old Irish air by <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Turlough O&#8217;Carolan<\/span>, from an ancient <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicanet.org\/robokopp\/eire\/longlong.htm\">legend<\/a>.&nbsp;<br \/>\nBy the time I thought to record the session, and gave up looking for an<br \/>\nexternal mic, this is what was being played.&nbsp; The sextet had just<br \/>\nbroken up, and we were down to duets.&nbsp; This recording doesn&#8217;t<br \/>\nbegin to do the music&nbsp; justice, but perhaps captures a taste of<br \/>\nits spirit.&nbsp;
