{"id":4198,"date":"2019-08-22T10:08:08","date_gmt":"2019-08-22T14:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.harvard.edu\/sj\/?p=4198"},"modified":"2020-06-24T18:19:33","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T22:19:33","slug":"raw-ought-norms-as-frames-for-life-and-thought","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/sj\/2019\/08\/22\/raw-ought-norms-as-frames-for-life-and-thought\/","title":{"rendered":"Raw Ought: Norms as Frames for Life and Thought"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;and Models of <em>Enrageousness<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Fjordic Norway is a mix of lush beauty, arable land, and impassable terrain &#8212; rivers, lakes, and steep mountainsides, interlaced like the fingers and planes of so many hands intertwined in four dimensions.<\/p>\n<p>Today that part of the country is striped with tunnels through the mountains, over 1000 in all, some over 20km long.\u00a0 Tunnel-construction is a norm there, permeating many aspects of life.\u00a0 Driving for a few hours outside of Bergen, I passed two being constructed from scratch; and at a few points had to follow a <em>lead car<\/em> through five that were under construction and so were staggering traffic to work on them.<\/p>\n<p>The overall understanding of road usage and travel was different.\u00a0 And national commitments to construction were made decades at a time.\u00a0 Different approaches to <a href=\"https:\/\/iii.pubpub.org\">innovation<\/a> have led to quite divergent models of practice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;and Models of Enrageousness.
