{"id":2340,"date":"2012-04-24T23:52:16","date_gmt":"2012-04-25T03:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/sj\/?p=2340"},"modified":"2012-04-25T00:23:48","modified_gmt":"2012-04-25T04:23:48","slug":"inspired-by-life-architecture-biology-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/sj\/2012\/04\/24\/inspired-by-life-architecture-biology-design\/","title":{"rendered":"Inspired by life: architecture + biology + design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had the great fortune of attending a workshop recently with a provocative MIT architect, <a href=\"http:\/\/web.media.mit.edu\/~neri\/site\/news\/news.php\">Neri Oxman<\/a>, whose artistic work I have seen showing up in museums across Europe and the US &#8211; it is truly awesome.  <\/p>\n<p>I was struck by the excellent practical end results produced from designs with varying textures\/ colors\/ qualities that are defined by artistic parametric equations.  The group&#8217;s past prototypes include some armor and body sheaths &#8211; presented as art, not as fashion &#8211; that were very much what I was looking for years ago when I wanted better load-bearing clothes.<\/p>\n<p>Future projects promise to include living structures and buildings&#8230; and, I hope, a line of designs suitable for the public.
