Lamar Smith (R-TX) and Senate majority lead Harry Reid (D-NV) both issued statements today that they would be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/2chambers\/post\/sopa-senate-vote-to-be-delayed-reid-announces\/2012\/01\/20\/gIQApRWVDQ_blog.html\">delaying votes on SOPA and PIPA<\/a>.\u00a0 Rep. Smith says &#8220;<em>we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem<\/em>&#8220;; Senator Reid will send the bill back to the Senate Judiciary Committee, and hopes to &#8220;<em>reach a compromise in the coming weeks<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>It looks like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/about\/members.cfm\">those 18 Senators<\/a> have their work cut out for them.\u00a0 Few of them have indicated they have any understanding of how the bills are dangerously broken.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PS<\/strong>: C<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Clay_Shirky\">lay Shirky<\/a> has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?feature=player_embedded&amp;v=9h2dF-IsH0I\">brilliant TED talk about the bills<\/a> online.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SOPA author Rep.
